Amplitude Modulated Sinusoidal Models for Audio Modeling and Coding

چکیده
In this paper a new perspective on modeling of transient phenomena in the context of sinusoidal audio modeling and coding is presented. In our approach the task of nding time-varying amplitudes for sinusoidal models is viewed as an AM demodulation problem. A general perfect reconstruction framework for amplitude modulated sinusoids is introduced and model reductions lead to a model for audio compression. Demodulation methods are considered for estimation of the time-varying amplitudes, and inherent constraints and limitations are discussed. Finally, some applications are considered and discussed and the concepts are demonstrated to improve sinusoidal modeling of audio and speech.

Calculation of an entropy-constrained quantizer for exponentially damped sinudoids parameters
The Exponentially Damped Sinusoids (EDS) model can efficiently represent real-world audio signals. In the context of low bit rate parametric audio coding, the EDS model could bring a significant improvement over classical sinusoidal models. The inclusion of an additional damping parameter calls for a specific quantization scheme. In this report, we describe a new jointscalar quantization scheme...
متن کاملAmplitude modulated sinusoidal modeling using least-square infinite series approximation with applications to timbre analysis
A least-square infinite series approximation (L-SISA) technique is proposed for modeling amplitude modulated (AM) sinusoidal components of naturally occurring signals, such as those produced by traditional musical instruments. Each AM sinusoid is iteratively extracted using an analysis-by-synthesis technique and the problem of parameter estimation is linearised for least-square approximation th...
متن کاملA Switched Parametric & Transform Audio Coder
In this paper, we present a system of sines+transients+noise modeling techniques that dynamically switches between parametric representations and transform coding based representations. The sines and noise are represented by parametric models using multiresolution sinusoidal modeling and Bark-band noise modeling, respectively. The transients are modeled by short regions of transform coding. In ...
متن کاملComparing several models for perceptual long-term modeling of amplitude and phase trajectories of sinusoidal speech
The so-called Long-Term (LT) modeling of sinusoidal parameters, proposed in previous papers, consists in modeling the entire time-trajectory of amplitude and phase parameters over large sections of voiced speech, differing from usual ShortTerm models, which are defined on a frame-by-frame basis. In the present paper, we focus on a specific novel contribution to this general framework: the compa...
متن کاملQuadrature Amplitude Modulated Digital Radio Transmission Modeling and Simulation
Computer aided design and computer aided modeling tools are becoming increasingly important in the design and performance evaluation of communication systems. In this work, we report on the computer simulation modeling study of terrestrial digital microwave radio transmission, using Block Oriented System Simulator package (BOSS). The work concentrates on semi-analytical error rate evaluation in...
